Hello Fatima kindergarteners and parents.

My name is Laura Young and I am so excited to be teaching the kindergarten class at Our Lady of Fatima Parish School again this year.  This can be a fairly challenging endeavor, but the rewards far outweigh the stressors and I am thrilled to be back.  I look forward to getting to know each of the students and their parents; and, I am especially delighted with the prospect of helping to guide your growth as you get started in grade school.  We are going to have some good times this year at OLOF Kindergarten!

A bit about myself… I am a native of Huntington, WV where I live with my husband, Allen and our 3 children, Olivia, Mary Ella and Christopher.  I have my degree in Elementary Education from Marshall University.  Before having children, I was a substitute teacher in Lincoln County and sold real estate. As my children have grown and made their way through St Joseph Grade School and High School, we have spent a great deal of time volunteering for the schools (my husband is the PTO president at St Joe).  Before starting at Fatima last year, I had been a substitute teacher for pre-school through 8th grade at St. Joseph.   I love animals and often spend free time volunteering at the Cabell Wayne Animal Shelter.  In addition to our 3 children, we also have 3 dogs, 3 cats and 2 birds.

My aide, entering her 22nd year at OLOF, is Sue Yocke.  Her years of experience make her a trusted ally in our kindergarten exploits.  She lives in Huntington has been married to Rick for over 40 years.  Like me, she loves dogs, especially her dog Annie.

Sue and I are looking forward to meeting all of our new students and we plan on having a super fun year of learning and adventure.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at lyoung@olofatima.org.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Laura Young
