Homework:

  • Reading: Students need to complete the Because of Winn-Dixie ch. 1-5 reading packet.  The completed packet is due Friday, April 5.
  • Spelling:. The 3 completed activities are due Friday, April 5.
  • Math: It is Quarter 4 Week 3 math homework.  The completed work is due Friday, April 5.  Students also need to study for their 6’s and 7’s multiplication quiz (50 questions) on Thursday, April 4.  
  • Social Studies: Study for the chapter 4 test on Wednesday, April 3.

Be able to…

  • identify what Opal brings home from the grocery store in chapter 1.
  • identify who or what Opal asks her father about in chapter 3.
  • describe what Winn-Dixie does when the preacher starts to speak in chapter 5.
    • He howls until the preacher tells Opal to get the dog.  Opal brings Winn Dixie inside to sit with her.
  • describe why Opal feels lonely.
    • She feels lonely because she has just moved to a new town and has not met many other kids.
  • discuss if you’ve ever felt like Opal.
  • compare yourself to Opal in 2-3 sentences.

A Note from Miss Kilver: 

  • For the 4th quarter, I will again be offering AR awards.  Please encourage your child to move up in his/her point club!
  • Please check your child’s folder nightly.
  • Please make sure your child brings a healthy snack each day.  They should also have a water bottle at their desk.
  • Your child may want to bring a fleece or cardigan each day.
