Hello, families! Here are some updates and reminders for this coming week in kindergarten:

We’ll be starting our reading curriculum this week: Superkids! The “Superkids” are a group of children with different talents and interests who live in a neighborhood together. Each student will have a workbook for every unit. We do these together in class and will send them home every few weeks, as we complete the units. Please look through them to get a good idea of what your child is learning. I love using the Superkids program because the children actually enjoy it and look forward to it. The program also includes lots of integrated science and social studies lessons that fall right into place with our reading topics. I can’t wait to introduce the students to our first Superkid this week!

Our “Fatima Family Day” will be held from 8:30-10:00am Tuesday, September 12th. One family member per student is welcome to join us for a continental breakfast in the Parish Hall followed by a special lesson in our classroom until 10:00. Please contact the office if you plan to attend.

Please remember to keep a spare pair of underwear and pants/shorts in your child’s backpack in case of emergencies. On several occasions we’ve had to find something from the school’s uniform closet because the child had no spare clothes.

Finally, you can expect to receive your child’s standardized test results in his or her folder later this week. We use the NWEA MAP Growth test in the fall, in the winter, and again in the spring.

I’d be happy to address any questions or concerns at CNowlin@OLOFatima.org.
