5th Grade Social Studies

 

This week, students will learn about the Columbian exchange, which resulted in the movement of culture, food, and diseases across continents. We will read and take notes from our textbook, analyze primary sources, and learn new academic vocabulary words. Once we finish this, we will begin a new chapter in our textbook and learn about the settling of these colonies in North America. Students are expected to come to class prepared with their Chromebooks, binders, and something to write with. 

 

6th Grade Social Studies

 

This week, students will learn about the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade and its role in devloping New Spain and the first French, Dutch, and English colonies, Protestant Reformation. We will read and take notes on our textbook including important events and vocabulary, as well as engage with interactive maps and charts to learn more deeply about this topic. All work will be completed in class so homework is not anticipated. All students are expected to come to class prepared with their Chromebooks, binders, and something to write with. 

 

7th Grade Social Studies

 

This week, students will be learning about Greek philosophers and artists and their impact on the world. We will also dive deeper into the recreational activities of Greece and what we can learn from their culture based on that. Students will learn about Plato, Socrates, the Olympics, etc. All work will be done in class so homework is not anticipated. All students are to come to class prepared with their Chromebooks, binders, and something to write with. 



8th Grade Social Studies

 

This week, students are learning about the War for the Ohio Valley. This stemmed from a land dispute in the British, French, and Indians were all fighting for the land bordering the Ohio River. All work is to be completed in class so homework is not anticipated. All students are to come to class prepared with something to write with as well as their Chromebooks and binders. 

 

Religion (ALL GRADES)

 

This week, all students are learning about the doctrine of the Eucharist, Transubstantiation, what the Eucharist actually means for our daily lives and how to live in the effects of the Eucharist. This will be done by reviewing what the Catechism teaches about the Eucharist, primary sources from early Church Fathers and popes about the Eucharist. Each grade will be learning about this in varying ways.
